Cravr (The Mating Games Book 8) Page 6
“Faster and harder, Cravr. I’m so close.” Annie whispered, but he heard perfectly. It was not in him to disappoint his lady. Speeding up just a little more, for her, he knew she was about to hit her orgasm. That would probably pull him into his. Would this create their first child?
Cravr’s feelings were mixed, he both wanted the child and the time alone with his mate. Their other children were older and would not demand the time and attention he had seen infants needed. Yet, to hold a baby in his arms, to fill their house with the big family his parents had had, that would be beautiful. He would leave it in the hands of the god’s who so far had gifted all but possibly Jorgr, with a child right away. All the other mates were either pregnant or had given birth.
The population of their planet was increasing at a dramatic rate. There was work and food for all, life was good. His mate stiffened beneath him, squeezing his staff, right before she exploded bucking under him like a prize bronc.
“Cravr!” She screamed as she came, her face rosy and passion filled.
His beast let out an other worldly sound as they succumbed to their own release before yelling her name. “Annie!” She was the beginning and end of their world. Their perfect mate, the one who would help them with their family, and she would also help calm the beast inside.
His gums itched just before his teeth lengthen. He knew his mating venom would be injected with the bite, beginning the process that would change her forever. His fangs sank in to the spot where her shoulder met her neck. Cravr could feel his venom shooting into her as her blood filled his mouth. Pulling back, he licked her wound so that it would heal. A deep feeling of belonging came over him and he felt a pinch, Annie had bitten him back to show her approval of their mating. Peace settled on him now that the mating was complete.
It was true the demon needed the mate as much, if not more than the male. A mate kept a demon grounded and kept his beast from bursting loose and creating havoc. There was no limit to the damage an uncontrolled demon could cause and the only way to stop them was with deadly force. Killing another of their own kind was a hard thing to live with. Cravr had not had to do it yet, because the males sent here had been, for a large part mated, and most of the others were younger like him. He and his brothers were in prime mating age.
“Gods, my Annie, you are perfect!” he exclaimed once he’d calmed enough to talk.
“You were pretty great too.” She said with her face still flushed and her breath still coming in pants.
Looking down, Cravr saw the mark just as he’d expected, a pale purple, crepe was what he’d heard it called. A smaller mark was on his mate, with the wolfish beast above her heart and fancy lines all around it. In his family, all mating marks were similar, but no two pairs, exactly alike. Hers would be a perfect match to his, only smaller, but no others, not even in his family, would be exactly the same.
“Oh, wow. How’d that get on there?” She asked as she ran her finger over his mark.
“The same way yours did.” He chuckled as she yelled.
“Oh, my God!” She saw the mark and it shocked her.
“It means we are true mates, just as I told you.”
“What if the mark hadn’t shown?”
“Sometimes it shows later. It would have made no difference to me.”
“What of your people, or your family?”
“They only want me to be happy, you make me happy.”
“You say all the right things, Cravr. If you truly mean them, we’ll have a good life.”
“Can you doubt me after what we shared?”
“That was physical, I need everything from you.”
“It was a physical reflection of a soul deep connection. Two people not intended to be together, would never experience such joy when joining.”
“You’re right, it did feel special. I felt it deep inside where it will never go away.”
Cravr relaxed, she felt it too, they would truly be as one. His com buzzed, he wished to ignore it but remembered Annie’s girls. “Cravr.”
“Cravr.”
“This is Ollil at the jail. Razar left instructions he wasn’t to be called until tomorrow. One of the prisoners wants a deal to give us information. We need someone with authority on hand.”
Annie was nodding as she paused while she dressed. He knew this was important to her even though he suspected law was not her calling. “I’ll be there in thirty.” Because so many humans, mostly from Earth, came to their world, they used human measurements to make things easy. He began to dress estimating they would be there in ten since the prison was only five minutes away as the crow flies. Another one of Lista’s colorful sayings. It showed how the mates had burrowed into their everyday lives.
They were both dressed and out the door in less than five minutes. The fact that the males present would smell that they had just mated, was not something he planned to share with his easily embarrassed mate. If they had any sense of self-preservation, they would say nothing. Once they arrived, he helped his mate out of the car. When they entered the building, Ollil was waiting at the main desk.
“You’re early.” He sniffed and looked at them in surprise. “I’ll take you right to the prisoner. I’m sorry to have bothered you.”
“It needed to be done. Let me introduce you to my new mate, Annie. Annie, this is the supervisor at this station, Ollil.”
They exchanged pleasantries as Ollil led them to the cell. The prisoner looked in better shape than when they had seen him as he was arrested. He looked up at them. “I want a deal. I’ll need enough money to get to the outer rim of known space.”
“Tell me what you have, and I’ll decide what it’s worth.” Cravr offered.
Chapter 9
Double Trouble
She still wasn’t sure why Ollil had sniffed the air, but she planned to ask Georgie to see if she knew. Annie listened intently to see what the prisoner had for Cravr. Even if the law wasn’t her passion, she wanted to know enough that he could discuss his day with her. This guy was a weasel, pure scum of the Earth, but that didn’t mean he didn’t have valuable information. Turned out, he did.
“So his son is taking over the company and he’s even worse than the old man. It also seems they agree on something, Oison can’t be allowed to become industrialized. It will kill the company’s profits from the Oison weed manufacturing.” The weasel sat there looking satisfied. He knew his information was worthy of a large pay off.
“Where do you wish to go?” Cravr asked.
“Argosy, I can make a life for myself there. Lots of women to take care of a man.”
“You have a deal. In two weeks, we’ll drop you off there with a small amount of cash. We are heading there anyway for another purpose.” Cravr agreed.
Annie remembered what Sylvia had said about overcrowding and underfeeding. Would it be fair to turn loose a rat on those women already starving and feeling like hell? It was true they would be removing a good portion of the females and dropping a large care package. He knew how bad things were there so she could only assume he intended to leave from there. The rat didn’t trust the Mazlans to know his location. Maybe he was just being smart, but she was sure none of them would ever tell anyone.
It was sad that this had to interrupt their mating. By the time they were done here, it would be time to go home. They would still have some privacy in their room, once they told the girls that Cravr would be in their life now. Now that the deal was agreed upon, there was no need to hang around here. Cravr led her out of the prison portion of the building. The prisoner screamed to be set free now that they had a deal. Cravr paused and turned to look at him.
“We would never trust you running free on our world. You are where you need to be until you are put on the spaceship.” The prisoner started cussing, but Cravr just escorted Annie out of the building.
“Let’s go home and take the girls to pick out their new bedrooms.” Cravr suggested.
“What about Sylvia?” Annie asked.
&n
bsp; “She doesn’t need around the clock care, does she? You can feed her, and someone will come in the morning to check on her.”
“I feel guilty. It’s like I offered to help, and now I’m avoiding her.”
“If you want, I can get someone to sit with her overnight.”
Annie threw herself into his arms. “Could you? Thank you so much.” She had to admit that she didn’t want to stay in her old house now. The woman was ready to move into her new life and never look back. That didn’t mean she wouldn’t honor her commitments, but as long as they were seen to, she didn’t have to do it herself.”
Cravr helped his mate into the car. In Annie’s mind, were not just heading to her old house, they were heading to their future. The girls would be excited, they liked Cravr. As they pulled in the driveway, she knew in moments they would know how everyone felt. “Are you sure Jorgr dropped off the girls?”
“Yes, he called afterward.” Cravr came around helping her out.
As the opened the door a blur of little girls hit them. “You didn’t come get us.” Sally accused. They both clung to their mother as if they feared she would disappear.
“I’m glad you’re here. Your guest left.” The babysitter shared.
“How?” Cravr asked.
“She was picked up by some friends. Sylvia seemed to be doing well, so there was no reason she had to stay. The female insisted on leaving and asked for a ride to the transportation center. I sent you a message, but you never answered.”
“You did the right thing, she was a guest, not a prisoner. We’re just surprised. Thank you for coming over on such short notice.”
“It was no problem and good pay for easy work.” The teenager hurried to leave.
“Girls, pack a bag, we are going to a new house.” Annie directed. The girls ask no questions and just hurried to do as they were told. “What do you think Sylvia leaving means?”
“I’m not sure, but I wondered if she was the victim she appeared to be.”
“What do you mean?”
“Sylvia is a tough female. Most people would break down after being so close to death. Even in her condition, she watched everything. It also was odd that she asked no questions.”
“I never noticed that and if I had, I would have thought she might be in shock.”
“Maybe, but her eyes were watchful and clear. I believe she was there to supervise, but those two fools didn’t know it. We probably haven’t seen the last of her.”
“What will you do?”
“Nothing. No matter what she was here for, in the end, she was abused to the point that she never finished her mission.”
“You believe she intended to kill them once they did what they were here to do?”
“Yes, that is my belief. Why else would she flee the second she was well enough to go?”
“I hope she just keeps on going. After that horrible experience and failing to complete her task, she won’t have a safe place anywhere near here or Earth.”
“She has to know that. Here come the girls. Let’s go home.”
Cravr led them out to the car where he helped Annie load the girls and then herself. Annie knew this felt right. She had fallen for this male the first time she’d seen him and this was just the perfect ending that she’d hoped for. They arrived at the house with two overexcited young girls.
“You can pick your bedrooms, just not the master. That belongs to your mother and me.”
The girls squealed with joy and ran through the house looking at the rooms. Molly picked one close to theirs. Sally choose one further away. “That way the squirt won’t bother me as much.” Sally confided. Annie knew it wouldn’t discourage Molly if she felt she needed to see her big sister. “Does this mean you and Cravr are married?”
“Yes, that’s what it means. Are you both okay with that?” Molly nodded.
“I’m glad you found a nice guy. The house help too.” Sally observed then giggled.
Annie was glad neither of the girls seemed unhappy with her choice. Things would settle down and she knew they could have a good life as a family.
Epilogue
Annie moaned as Cravr slid in and out, faster and faster, while she was on her knees on the bed. His marvelous fingers manipulated her clit bringing her to the edge of an orgasm. “Please!” She moaned needing release desperately. He relented, giving her clit a pinch that sent her tumbling over the edge.
Her climax triggered his and he filled his lovely mate with hot cum. They went at it like a newly mated couple because in his mind, even two weeks later, they still were. Both of them rolled onto the bed where he cuddled with his mate and they often talked a while before they settled into sleep.
Annie had begun to put her stamp on the house, at first changing little things before starting on wall colors and planting flowers in the neglected yard. It made her happy, and that made him happy too. He’d found her a new job, one that suited her better and she seemed to love it. She was now a counselor for the new people who were coming to the planet in droves. His mate worked three days a week, and she was also taking classes on the computer to learn more about helping clients.
Her job was to help them adjust to the move. It was not only the emotional aspect she helped them deal with; she helped them find jobs, a place to live, and she had started a support group where immigrants could help each other and make friends. Her services were popular and free to the individuals. The government paid her, which made her happy because she liked some independence.
Sally and Molly had adjusted well and made friends quickly. Most of the native children were male, but that didn’t bother the girls and they had their cousins, Mimi’s children, to play with also. The only dark cloud on the horizon was Oison’s relationship with Earth. It was degrading to the point that Stevr worried that each time he went there for mates, would be the last. There were other places to get mates, but Earth had so many and Oison needed large numbers.
“I thank the gods every day for you.” Cravr whispered in Annie’s ear.
“My feelings are the same. Had Jorgr not fallen in love with Georgie, I shudder to think what would have happened.”
“His mating affected your whole family in a good way. All of you were brave to take a chance on a male you didn’t know.”
“Your brother saved us. If we were on Earth now, there would be no way to escape.”
“They have locked down travel and unauthorized ships are shot down, but they still don’t have the technology to locate and track our ships.”
“How do you know that?”
“We have people checking on things for us. The former and the current head of the company that has been causing us trouble, we have eyes on them.”
“You plan to take them out?”
“Only if we must. You have to realize that they are dangerous. Not only to our businesses, but they almost killed one of our mates and an infant. The sad thing is they weren’t even trying to kill anyone. What will happen if they start trying?”
“I don’t disagree with you, I never thought I was the vengeful kind, but attack my family and I want you dead. Just use the best you have. If they are caught, it would mean war.”
“We won’t do it ourselves. There’s a company set up on the moon. They are the best at what they do. Those hunters find people or property then they retrieve or destroy it.”
Annie shivered in his arms. “They sound dangerous.”
“They are, but not to us. We have built up a relationship with them. Don’t worry sweetheart, we use them regularly and they protect us. Let’s get back to what we were doing.”
Cravr leaned over and kissed his mate. This was what he lived for, in her arms he could forget the worries and difficulties of daily life and celebrate the joys. This female and his family was his everything. So far all his brothers had found their perfect mate. He hoped the gods stayed on their side with only two brothers to go.
Book 9
Norvir
Norvir was the calm, laid back
, and studious brother in a family of primitive beasts that were gentle only as needed. That wasn’t to say he couldn’t let his beast out when needed, he could. When he missed the mating games because Cravr mated before them, he wasn’t upset. He would be in the ones he expected and still try to lure some experts to their planet to help him set up a good conservation program that would span lifetimes and save their planet the troubles Earth had.
When he arrived on the distance space station, Tellur III, Cravr met Dr. Nathalie Goodrich and immediately knew everything had changed. Not only was the female, with a dual degree in biology and chemistry, exactly the one they needed to run his program, but she set off a need in his beast, he could barely control.
Nathalie liked, okay, maybe more than liked, the big, male Mazlan who approached her, enough to consider his proposal seriously. The problem was she was writing a book exposing what some of the big corporations were continuing to do to the environment on Earth, and until it was published, they were gunning for her. Could she drag him into her troubles? Did she want to deal with the oddities she’d heard existed on Oison? Decisions, decisions, and if she wasn’t careful, some of those decisions would be made for her.
