  Once he calmed down, his mind began to race again. Earth was on his mind once more. They were still after Georgie and would be until he got the proof of Edington’s, the owner of the huge company he’d worked at, culpability. They wouldn’t like the proof he had, it was too damning. Males of Earth never wanted to punish a male but they would have no choice. The sabotage could be viewed as an act of war if it went unpunished. Could and would be viewed in that light. Earth didn’t have the protection it needed to prevent Mazlans from taking them over.

  They didn’t want Earth. It was true they wanted some of the females. The other problems Earth had would just give them a big headache. It was easier to trade for willing brides than to take on the care of the whole planet. Right now except for the unprovoked attacks by Edington, their dealings with earth were right where they wanted them. By taking some of the excess females, they would improve the lot of those left behind and ease the strain of an overburdened planet. Wasn’t that a win for everyone?

  “What are you thinking about?” Georgie wondered.

  “I was thinking about how you and your sisters are finally free of Earth.”

  “They will still try to take me.”

  “I have proof that you aren’t guilty. Edington paid for the sabotage committed on our planet and on the ship. I have recordings of conversations and proof of payments made. They will have no choice but to stop pursuing you and to take action against Edington.”

  “I hope you are right but I have seen them go against proof and do as they wish.”

  “Would they do so if it meant war?”

  “I honestly can’t say. They have never made any sense to me. In the early years of industry on our planet women often said it was a man’s world. It was to some extent but nothing like it has now become. When I was born a woman, my fate was sealed to be used by men in whatever way they deemed best.”

  “Your life will never again be like that. On Oison, everyone is valued regardless of sex, age, or where they came from. We have citizens living there from many planets and they all have rights.”

  “It is with a full heart that I commit myself to you. I never thought I would have a hope of being happy.” Tears had come to her eyes which made him hurt. It was wrong what she had been put through all her life. Turning slightly toward her he pulled her over his chest so she could lay her head over his heart. She would have a happy life now, he would see to it.

  At some point they relaxed and even though they hadn’t intended to, they both fell asleep. It was probably a good thing for sleep helped heal the body and clear the mind. In other words, when he woke he felt a whole lot better. His mate’s stomach growled like an angry beast making him realize he was hungry too. They dressed quickly with the idea of eating and coming back to the room quickly to participate in more intimate activities but it wasn’t to be.

  Stevr and his mate Geena were waiting for them in the private dining room. They had picked up the future mates on Earth and were on their way to Oison when they had been called back to pick up Jorgr. Cravr would appreciate the delay since now he would be able to participate in the mating games. Geena and Georgie seemed to hit it off so he and Stevr left them after they’d finished eating to discuss important matters.

  “The Earth cruiser is ghosting us. They think to fool us into thinking they are no longer there even though out technology is better.” Stevr shook his head in disbelief.

  “Why do they follow us? They can’t get onboard and if we speed up they’ll be left behind.”

  “Earth males make no sense. They have females they should love and care for but they mistreat them. Nothing they do seems right. Should we just speed up leaving them in our star dust?”

  “I’d like to know what they plan. Have you monitored their communications?”

  “Yes, they were instructed just to follow as long as they can keep us in sight. They truly have no idea of our technology. It they did they would run and hide.”

  “They are aggravating me enough I wonder if a show of force may be needed.”

  “I would love to scare them so bad they piss their pants.”

  “Can we do it?” The question wasn’t did they have the power but did they have the authority.

  “Razar gave us power to make decisions while we are too far from home for quick consultations.”

  Jorgr smiled. “What do you suggest?” It was Stevr’s ship and he knew what it could do and how to best use it to frighten the foolish police that were overconfident in the abilities of their cruiser.

  “Perhaps we should use one of Earth’s old traditions. Geena told me old naval stories where a ship would fire over the bow of another as a warning. A nice explosion just in front of them might have the desired result.”

  Jorgr like the way his brother thought. “I’m sure it will give them something to think about.” His brother had a wicked grin on his face and Jorgr was sure he had the same grin on his.

  He followed Stevr to the command deck to observe his preparations. For such an exact maneuver, it took little time to set up. “When do you wish to do this?” Stevr asked him.

  “Sooner is better.” Stevr nodded. Seconds later he looked at the view screen. An explosion of bright colorful lights lit up the space behind them so much that the other ship was clearly visible.

  “They’ve stopped moving.” Stevr observed.

  “Good. Maybe they’ll give up.” Jorgr stayed on the deck for a good while but the cruiser had stopped following them.

  Stevr and he went back to join their wives who were still carrying on a lively discussion about Earth’s government. They sat down and listened as their females expressed their disappointment with Earth’s laws and the way they handled the economy and the ecology of the planet. It sounded to Jorgr like the females needed to take things over. He really didn’t understand why they didn’t when they outnumbered the males greatly. The females did most of the work but received so much less than the males. Why would they put up with that? It was just one of Earth’s great mysteries. Never would he deny that he was relieved to be gone from that place.

  He knew that Georgie and her sisters had mixed feelings because they had lived there all their lives. It was his plan to make his mate so happy she wouldn’t miss the place at all. Between their two adopted children and the kids he hoped they would have, he thought their life would be pretty swell. Right now he was ready to get back to their room and enjoy mated life a little.

  Chapter 8

  Oison

  The journey was faster than usual since they had increased speed once the Earth police cruiser had been stopped. They lay together in bed enjoying each other as newly married or mated couples did. Oison was not far now. She ran her hand over her mate’s chest. His skin was silky but his body hard and firm. His demon didn’t scare her, he made her feel safe. When they had sex he often peered out at her through Jorgr’s eyes. Georgette saw the glow in his eyes right now that indicated he was there.

  Georgie was nervous because everything would be new to her and she was meeting the rest of his family for the first time. He’d told her almost nothing about any of them so she had no idea what to expect. They dressed and packed their belongings. Once they were done they moved to the area everyone was gathering at. Her sisters and the children were all there. The ship slowed as it pulled into the docking station and then it came to a full stop. Jorgr took her hand and they exited the ship first with her family behind them.

  They were on a space station and now they loaded a shuttle to ride on down to the planet on. “We do things this way to limit access to our people. We’ve had several instances of sabotage and this makes it harder for them to attack the surface.” Jorgr explained as they sat in their seats putting their harnesses on. The trip to the surface was fast and she was glad to get out if the shuttle.

  Everyone congregated in a spot once they were off the shuttle. It took off to pick up the next load of passengers. Jorgr took her hand again leading her in the direction of some large hover busses. They loaded up and took off again pulling up to a large house a few miles away. “This is my parent’s home.”

  The house was huge and built of some type of lavender rock. There were flowers around the house in several shades of purple. Georgie figured his mom must like that color. The door opened and a female rushed out and enveloped Jorgr in a hug. She turned to look at Georgie then hugged her too. Relief washed over her as she realized his mom was accepting her. A big male, even bigger than Jorgr stood watching everything carefully.

  He slowly approached and she saw the family resemblance to her mate. Jorgr stepped toward him and they hugged in a manly fashion. She moved to Jorgr’s side unsure what would happen next, but his dad gave her a quick hug too.

  “I’m so glad you made it here safely.” His father said.

  “We had some problems but it all worked out.”

  Truer words were never spoken.

  Epilogue

  Razar was angry but not surprised. First Earth had argued with the proof they had sent of the Earth man’s guilt and insisted Georgie be sent to them. Razar had threatened to cut off all business with them. He had told them other avenues were available for mates if they did not show themselves trustworthy.

  They finally agreed to punish the male but Razar didn’t believe them. He would wait patiently but the punishment would be dealt out in time. He’d gotten them to agree to give Georgie her business back but he knew it was just to placate them. Razar didn’t trust them enough to let her run it from there. She did everything by vidcom and stayed right here where she was safe although she had to agree to leave Smythe as a figure head. It made them wonder who the man knew that they felt he was that important. Maybe it was just to give the impression that he was the owner and CEO.

  The next mating games would be in two weeks now that the mates had arrived and Cravr was up next but he was acting strangely. Not that he wasn’t a bit odd anyway. Razar wouldn’t worry about it since it was time to go home to his wife. It would all work out in the end, that’s what time had proven to him.

  Cravr

  He’d felt as if he’d been poleaxed when he first saw her. She was Georgie’s sister, Annie. They said she was the crazy one and he wasn’t sure what that meant but he liked her a little too much and he was about to enter the games. That meant she wouldn’t be his.
